A big rat in my house disappeared in my very own eyes

 Hello JNB fans, please can you explain this situation to me, there is this huge rat in my house, I guess it entered from the backyard while I was in the kitchen, the surprising thing here is that this rat is always quite, while the other smaller rat disturb, this particular "big light brown" doesn't

Just day before yesterday I made sure my kitchen door was properly close, so it doesn't find is way to the living room, but something strange happened, you won't believe I'm still in shock uptil now.
Day before yesterday morning, I heard the rat disturbing in the kitchen by scattering unwashed plates, I took a touch and I carefully opened the kitchen door, as soon as I did, the rat ran to hide itself, I called my siblings to join me in chasing the rat out.

We turned the whole kitchen upside down in search of the rat, we remove every thing in the kitchen and couldn't find the rat that I saw ran into a hide out. I checked if there was a hole it might have escaped through but on thorough search I found none.
I was so scared, did the rat I saw disappeared in my very own eyes... am still amazed at the incident. Please JNB readers clear me up is this a thing to be concerned about, is the an evil rat and did it really disappear ???
