The Mothers of the land says they find it very hard to carter for their children as before due to the huge top up on food prices. Many narrates how much they use to buy certain food stocks and how much it is now.
- Yam : we use to get yam for N 200, N 250, N300 according to their sizes but is no more such, the yam of N200 before now sells for N 500 with much begging & per gaining.
- Tomato : I can get tomato as low as N100 Naira before presently the tomato sold for N 100 is N 300. A family of 5 will require three to four rolls to cook a medium pot of stew which was N 400 currently we spend N1,200 for tomato only without Pepper and other necessary ingredients.
- Meat : meat is so high, As I can't even buy it anymore I've turned to chicken only.
Food traders are also complaining saying a small basket of tomatoes previously sold for N5000, is presently gotten for the sum N18,000 while the big basket sold for N 12,000 before now goes for N 26 ,000 - N 27, 000
We used to buy medium basket of fresh Pepper for N8,000. Is being sold to us currently at the rate of N 15,000 while Tatashe Pepper now sells for N 17 000 instead of N 10,000.
How can we cope with this enormous increase in food knowing is the primary need of man, pray we don't suffer hunger strike, the poor, Traders, families laments.
